The Ministry of Information has condemned the assault of a journalist at Dagon FM in Tamale, Mr Sadiq Gariba, and urged the Ghana Police Service and other relevant agencies to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators.
This was contained in a press statement by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry on Thursday.
It stated, “Attacks on journalists should not be countenanced. Severe and speedy response from law enforcement agencies is necessary to prevent copycat acts and maintain Ghana’s status in upholding press freedom.”
It noted that the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in a telephone conversation with the journalist has offered the support of the Ministry if he would require any.
