The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Kwasi Amoako Attah has announced that the Kumawu township roads would soon receive a facelift.
He made this remark on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call to the Omanhene of the Kumawu Traditional Area, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua II to formally announce the commencement of the project and to introduce Joshob Construction Ltd (the construction firm procured to undertake the project).
According to the Minister, the announcement followed the completion of the procurement process for the road project.
The Kumawu road project is made up of 34km which includes 5km of the town roads that constitute the first phase with the rest being the Effiduase- Kumawu – Woraso road.
Mr Amoako used the occasion to express his condolences to the family and the people of Kumawu on the death of the late Philip Basoa, who was the Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency.
He further mentioned that, the commencement of the project has nothing to do with the impending by-election and that the process for the award of the project began in October 2022.
