The Director of FIFA for Schools Project, Fatima Sow Sidibe has commended Ghana for being a participant in the football for schools’ initiative.
She stated that the project was intended to provide kids with opportunities to learn life skills.
She made the statement when she paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Mustapha Ussif on Wednesday ahead of the commencement of the FIFA Football for Schools programme in Ghana.
She indicated that this was the first phase of the project in Ghana and expressed hope that the Ministries of Education as well as Youth and Sports would work together to expand it.
More than 30,000 footballs are expected to be delivered to primary schools across the country as part of the campaign.
The launch of the Ghana project would witness the presence of the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, the Minister for Education, Yaw Adutwum, the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and the FIFA Project Director.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Astro pitch on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
