The draft bill for the establishment of a National Anti-Doping Agency has been prepared and is currently at the Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General’s Department for finalization.
The establishment of the Anti-Doping Agency in Ghana forms part of the preparation towards hosting the 13th African Games in Accra while also advancing anti-doping efforts in Ghana.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Mustapha Ussif, disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Accra.
According to the Minster, the President of the Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Mr Witold Banka, paid a three-day working visit to Ghana to help strengthen anti-doping in the country.
“His visit was also to help facilitate the establishment of an anti-doping Authority in Ghana,” he added.
On the sensitization of students on anti-doping in sports, he said the Ministry had broadened the scope of youth sensitization in second-cycle schools.
“The schools are Ningo Senior High, Prampram Senior High, Ashaiman Senior High, Accra Girls Senior High, St Aquinas Senior High, Labone Senior High, Accra Senior High, Apenkwa Cluster of Schools,” he noted.
