Nobody has been contracted to mobilise relief items for victims of Akosombo Dam Spillage- MoYS

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has refuted allegations that it has contracted some individuals to mobilise relief items to support victims of the Akosombo dam spillage.

A press statement signed by the PR Unit of the Ministry stated that an individual named, Felix Kyei Kwarteng, has been identified as one of the persons engaging in this fraudulent act.

“The imposter has been making announcements in the airwaves particularly in the Northern and Upper East Regions with the sole intention of defrauding unsuspecting individuals,” it said.

The Ministry stated that it has not contracted Felix Kyei Kwarteng or any other person to raise funds to support victims of the Akosombo dam spillage.

“We earnestly request the public to dismiss any such appeals for assistance,” it said.

The Ministry empathised with the victims and said the government has taken steps to provide emergency relief to affected communities and also instituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee to handle the situation adequately.

“The safety and trust of the public remain our utmost concern as we alert the public to be vigilant at all times,” the statement said.
