The Office of the Head of Civil Service has started an inter-ministerial football tournament to mark the 2022 Civil Service Week Celebration.

Launching the event, the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Evans Opoku Bobbie urged participating ministries to take the opportunity to exercise, stay healthy and build relationships.

“Sports and tournaments are fun and provide opportunities to develop skills and relationships with others as well as a platform for networking and socialization,” he said.

He said the values of such tournaments promote punctuality, patience, discipline, teamwork and dedication which are vital to civil service.

He pledged the Ministry’s support throughout the competition and called for the inclusion of traditional sports in the subsequent contest.

On his part, the Head of the Civil Service, Nana Agyekum Dwamena called on participating ministries to exhibit discipline and take advantage of the opportunity to develop their skills, both on and off the field.

“Captains of the teams should guide their players to avoid any form of violence and consider the tournament as a fun event to build relationships,” he added.

The 2022 Civil Service Week will start from the 20th to the 28th of July, 2022 on the theme Digitization in the Civil Service of Ghana: An Agenda for Improved Productivity and Service Delivery.

Some of the activities for the celebration include a clean-up campaign, public lecture, press launch, policy fair, tourism day and awards ceremony.
