The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Mustapha Ussif, has indicated that community sports facilities would be constructed across the 275 constituencies of the country as a project, to help identify the talent and skills of the youth.
He noted that the project dubbed Ghana-Qatar legacy project would help to improve on the sports facilities in the country especially when the country has won the bid to host the 2023 African Games.
The Minister said this when the Ambassador of Qatar to Ghana, H.E Mohammed Al-Homaid paid a courtesy call on him at the ministry in Accra on Wednesday.
According to him, construction of community sports facilities would create a lasting memory in the minds of the public even after the world cup.
On his part, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Minister for the warm reception he received despite his busy schedule, and assured him of his utmost support for the wonderful initiatives he has put across.
The Chief Director of the Ministry, Alhaji Hafiz Adam welcomed the ambassador and intimated that the relationship between Ghana and Qatar goes beyond football and was therefore looking forward to greater collaboration with his outfit to make lasting impact in the youth of both countries.
Discussions also centered on Ghana’s preparation towards the upcoming world cup in Qatar and the role of the ambassador to ensure a convenient and comfortable trip as well as stay in Qatar.
