Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated $10,000 to Hasaacas Ladies FC towards the team’s upcoming Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The presentation was done on his behalf by his Special Aide, Mr Tamimu Issa, on Monday, at the team’s camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Mr Issa said the donation to the team was to aid their preparation as they seek to grab a slot at the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.
He said, “The Vice President heard of the public appeal for support as you go to Ivory Coast to represent Ghana.
“He asked me to come and make this donation as his contribution to the team. This is in support of the team. He believes that you can make it; hence he encourages you to go make yourselves and the country proud.”
Having won the Women’s Premier League and Women’s FA Cup this season, the Vice President believes in the team’s capabilities and tasked them to excel in their Africa campaign.
Mr Nana Benyin Eyison, the President of Hasaacas Ladies, thanked Dr Bawumia and promised that the club would strive to qualify and win laurels for the country, adding, “This is a big one and it came in handy to us”.
Hasaacas Ladies is paired with Rivers Angels FC and AS Police de Niamey in the qualifiers.
On Wednesday, July 15, the team will leave Ghana to battle for a ticket in the qualifiers.
