The Embassy of Palestine in Ghana has condemned the recent atrocities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, during which Palestinian women, children, the elderly and entire families were exterminated and their homes destroyed by Israel.
The Embassy described the use of sophisticated weapons, including phosphorous bombs, continuous repression and extreme force and use of live bullets, and the direct field executions of Palestinian youths in Jerusalem and the occupied west bank as nothing short of as racist acts.
According to the Embassy, the various acts of human rights abuses such as the expulsion and displacement of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarah neighborhood, the daily incursions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, burning of the Gethsemane Church, the attack on believers celebrating the Sabbath Light and the occupation, settlement, annexation and judaization of Jerusalem were an affront to international law
Addressing the media at a news conference at the Embassy in Accra on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, His Excellency Abdulfattah Ahmed Khali Alsattari, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, reiterated the need for boycotts and sanctions against Israel, and urged the international community to lend full support for Palestinian struggle for self-determination.
Present at the news conference was Mr Kwesi Pratt Junior, Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, and Mr Ras Mubarak, former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu.
Mr Pratt noted that Israeli government was employing racism and apartheid through their ideology of Zionism, adding that he could not fathom how the Israeli state could be so defiant in the face of massive international support for the Palestinian cause.
Mr Mubarak added his voice to the call for international solidarity against Israeli occupation.
The News Conference was held against the background of a statement issued by Dr Riyad al-Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, calling on the Embassies of the State of Palestine to ensure that the crimes of the occupation state were exposed on the largest scale at the international and humanitarian levels as well as mobilize more international positions and popular movements in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to mount pressure ion the occupying state.
