The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to employ 16,500 newly trained teachers who completed colleges of education in 2019.
A statement issued by the GES setting out the criteria for the recruitment said applicants must have no outstanding exams or referrals, must have completed national service and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams.
Also, the statement said interested applicants could apply through the GES official website: www.gespromotions.gov.gh, to complete online application forms and upload all valid certificates before the close of October 30, 2020.
According to the Director-General of GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Service is expected to recruit about 93,724 teachers by the close of the year.
He assured that this would be achieved by the close of the year as non-teaching staff would also be considered for recruitment.
He hinted that after the recruitment of the current batch of teachers, the next group would be graduate teachers who did Education in the various universities and had written their licensure exams as well as completed their mandatory national service.
Prof. Opoku-Amankwa noted that between 2017 and 2019, about 66,357 teaching and non-teaching staff were recruited.
He said 33,810 teaching and non-teaching staff were recruited in 2017, another 8,872 teachers were employed to supplement the number of teachers in secondary schools as a result of the introduction of the double-track system while in 2019, a further 23,675 teaching and non-teaching staff were recruited.
