The Head of the Civil Service, Nana Agyekum-Dwamena, has said the Service has adopted modern technology to increase efficiency and speed.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena was speaking at a press launch of the 2023 Civil Service Week Celebration and 2022 Awards Ceremony in Accra.
According to him, the theme for the year’s celebration, “Enhanced Service Delivery and Economic Transformation in Ghana: The Civil Service in Focus”, was carefully chosen to project the critical role the Civil Service plays in ensuring the realization of government policies to enhance service delivery and economic transformation.
He added that the operationalization of the Electronic Staff Performance Appraisal (E-SPA) by the Civil Service has improved accountability.
Other interventions, he cited, were service-wide virtual promotions, capacity development of staff, legislative and administrative reforms and support for key government policies and initiatives.
These, he said, had improved and reinforced service delivery for economic transformation over the last few years.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena called on Civil Service staff to continue to work with other public sector organizations, including the private sector, to advance the national development agenda.
The annual Civil Service Week Celebration and Awards Ceremony is one of the activities implemented by the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) with support from the Public Sector Reform for Results Projects (PSRRP).
The programme lined up to mark the 2023 event includes a clean-up exercise within the Ministries (Thursday, May 25, 2023); Thanksgiving Service for both Christian and Muslim Staff (Friday, May 26, 2023) and Public Lecture (Monday, May 29, 2023).
Also, from Monday, May 29 to Thursday, June 1, 2023, there will be a series of activities, including Policy Fair/Exhibition, Tourism Food Bazaar and inter-Ministerial Men’s Cooking Competition and Health Screening exercises.
The week-long event would also see the Final matches of the inter-Ministerial Football Tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium. The event would be climaxed with the 2022 Civil Service Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
